The Co-Operative Travel Brand experince
Following the merger of United Co-op and the Co-operative Group in July 2007 we required a new ‘Management Development Programme’ which meets the changing needs of the new enlarged business.

The project was led in the main by Scott Leiper – who had the task of not only reviewing the current solutions in both businesses but also designing a new fit for purpose solution.

‘High Flyers’ was launched in 2009 across The Co-operative Travel. With the format styled around a Travel theme; High Flyers gives colleagues from all levels a three tiered development route to enhance capability and aid career progression.  Blending e-learning, coaching, conceptual workshops and project based activities.

I believe this style of learning really suits modern day managers – it’s fun, it’s interactive and it’s relevant to their job role but in addition it also encourages managers to ‘think outside the box and out of their own comfort zone. High Flyers has encouraged managers to network with their colleagues in other areas of the travel group meaning they get a much broader understanding of our business overall.

We are thrilled about the early success of this programme, which has been so skillfully created by Scott to ensure we have a flexible, focused and fresh development programme for our employees to help us meet our business goals today and in the future.
